President Sirleaf Signs Book of Condolence for Fallen Diplomat:
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf onTuesday, 5th January 2016 led an array of senior officials of government to perform the signing ceremony of the Book of Condolence for the fallen Liberia Ambassador accredited to the Court of Saint James, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, His Excellency, Rudolf P. Von Ballmoos.
According to an Executive Mansion release, the mournful ceremony took place in the Foyer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, January 5, 2016.
A sizable number of the late Ambassador Von Bullmoos’ family was in attendance at the ceremony. Speaking on behalf of the family, Mrs. Angie Von Bullmos, wife of the diseased thanked President Sirleaf for all the support given her during time of their bereavement.
Also speaking to journalists later, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Elias Shoniyin termed the death of Ambassador Von Ballmoos as “a big loss”. He said the late diplomat was an exceptional person and his death has created a huge gab, which according to him will go a long way in replacing him. He was endowed with wisdom, understanding and was always ready to serve. “As an ambassador, he would guide a process to a peaceful and logical resolution,” Shoniyin said.
Prior to his death, Ambassador Von Ballmoos, served his country as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, The Vatican and the Sovereign Military Hospitalize Order of Malta.
He also served as Liberia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Ghana and later transferred to the United Kingdom asLiberia’s Ambassador to that Country, where he remained up to his demise.
He died Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Epsom General Hospital in Surrey, London, U.K. He was 56.
Ambassador von Ballmoos was one of Liberia’s outstanding diplomats, who served his country and people with dedication, commitment and loyalty. The Liberian Embassy in the UK had previously opened a Book of Condolence at the Chancery from 11:00 to 15:00 on Monday and Tuesday, December 21 and 22, 2015.
Ambassador Von Ballmoos remains will be conveyed on Saturday, January 9, 2016 under appropriate escort from the Samuel A. Stryker Funeral Home in Sinkor to the First United Methodist Church on Ashmum Street, where funeral rites will be held.
The late Ambassador is expected to be laid to rest at the Kaizer Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Brewerville, outside Monrovia.
