President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a message of congratulations to H.E. Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President-elect of the Federal Republic of Germany.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, President Sirleaf, on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia and in her own name, extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Mr. Steinmeier and indicated that she was very delighted to congratulate him on his election as President of the Federal Republic of Germany.  

“You have assumed this great office at the time relations between our two countries have been strengthened considerably and our development cooperation have reached unprecedented heights,” the Liberian leader noted, adding that Germany remains a significant and reliable friend to Liberia and has been very supportive to its development efforts, particularly in critical sectors including energy, infrastructure, and bio-diversity.

President Sirleaf expressed optimism that giving the numerous achievements the two countries’ partnership have realized, Germany - Liberia relations will experience new and elevated levels, which will add value to the already strong bilateral relations enjoyed by the peoples of both countries.

The Liberian leader indicated that she looks forward to working closely with the new German leader in promoting global peace and prosperity.  She also wished for President-elect Steinmeier personal success in his new and demanding responsibility.
