His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah has,on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Liberia and in his own name extended heartfelt congratulations to His Holiness, Pope Francis, and through him to the Government and people of the Vatican City on the auspicious occasion marking the 91^st National Day of that country.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, President Weah noted with great admiration the cordial relationship subsisting between the two countries for several decades; the Vatican has always stood by Liberia especially in our periods of grief, offering prayers and humanitarian assistance through the Catholic Church in Liberia.

The Liberia leader expressed gratitude for the quality education provided by the church to many Liberians on whose shoulders our nation is functioning. He also assured His Holiness of his government continued commitment to the share goal of religious tolerance and co-existence everywhere in the world.

President Weah then extended his best wishesfor His Holiness personal well-being, good health, happiness and long life, and for the people of the Vatican sustained peace and prosperity.
