President Weah Congratulates New Cuban President, Mr. Diaz-Canel

His Excellency Mr. George Manneh Weah, President of the Republic of Liberia has sent a Message of Congratulations to His Excellency Mr. Miguel Diaz-Canel, on his preferment as President of the Great Cuban Republic.

 

Cuba's National Assembly announced Thursday, April 19, that First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel, 57, will replace His Excellency Mr. Raul Castro, now Former President, as the head of the Cuban government.

 

According to a Foreign Ministry release, President Weah in his congratulatory message said, “On this historic occasion of your overwhelming preferment as President of the Great Cuban Republic, it gives me great pleasure to convey to you, on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Liberia, and in my own name, hearty and profound congratulations.”

 

The Liberian Leader further told his Cuban counterpart, that his preferment is undoubtedly an affirmation of the continued confidence the people of his great country repose in his visionary and distinguished leadership.

 

“It is my fervent hope that your term will be marked by even greater achievements at home and abroad. As you embark on this new journey we look forward to deepening friendship and cooperation so happily subsisting between our two countries and peoples.”

 

President Weah assured President Diaz-Canel that both nations will continue to forge common fronts for the promotion of International Peace, Security and Development.
