President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has commissioned Richelieu Archibald Williams as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Morocco. “We are taking one of our favorite ones to make him Ambassador,” the Liberian leader said passionately.

According to an Executive Mansion release, President Sirleaf performed the commissioning ceremony on Thursday, November 30, 2017 in the Cabinet room of her Foreign Ministry office in Monrovia.

President Sirleaf urged Ambassador Williams to build and strengthen strong relationship that would enhance closer cooperation and foster bilateral ties. She described the decision to name Ambassador Williams to his new assignment as a hard one to make. President Sirleaf termed Ambassador Williams as an institutional person as manifested by his performance when he served in the aviation sector but noted that she was glad someone will continue where he stopped.

She challenged him that as he takes up a new assignment, his focus will be to strengthen closer cooperation and enhance mutual relationship. President Sirleaf said while it is clear that the footprints of the Kingdom of Morocco’s partnership remain evident in neighboring countries, she challenged Ambassador Williams to forge the kind of cooperation that will bring benefit Liberia. She commended Ambassador Williams for having performed very well in helping to reshape the aviation sector.

In remarks, Ambassador Williams thanked President for what he referred to as yet another opportunity to serve our dear nation. He expressed gratitude as one of the very few public officials who started from the very formation of this administration up to the last mile which he said comes with patriotism, commitment and love for country.

He said he was deeply humbled by the confidence reposed him to represent our country beyond these shores and added that his representation will be characterized by bringing economic opportunities that will benefit the country.

 Ambassador Williams assured President that the confidence conferred on him will indeed bear fruits. He said that in a relative short period - our country will begin to experience the impact of the trust reposed in me.  He also commended his family and the Civil Aviation team for their continued support as the pillar of his progress and for tolerating long hours of work particularly in his service to country and for its greater good.
