President Sirleaf Congratulates Laos on Anniversary

The President of the Republic of Liberia, Her Excellency Mrs. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has congratulated the Government and people of the Republic of Laos on the occasions marking the 62ndIndependence celebration of that country.

 

Laos, a country in Southeast Asia, was formed from bringing together Luang Phabang, Vientiane and Champasak.  Laos became independent in 1953, with a constitutional monarchy which was ended with a long civil war.

 

In her message to His Excellency Mr. Bounnhany Vorachith, President of the Republic of Laos, Mrs. Johnson Sirleaf stated “As the people of Laos Commemorate this happy occasion, I look forward to strengthening the bilateral ties between our two countries for the mutual benefit of our peoples.”   

 

The Liberian leader expressed the hope that as Liberia joins the Government and People of Laos in commemorating this historic event, the two nations will work together in furtherance of the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, aimed at promoting peace, security and cooperation among all nations around the globe.

 

President Johnson Sirleaf then prayed that the Almighty God will endow President Vorachith with abundant wisdom and strength as he leads his compatriots to greater prosperity.
