President Sirleaf Sends Messages of Consolation to the Prime Minister of Thailand & the Interim President of Haiti

The President of the Republic of Liberia, H.E. Mrs. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, has sent two separate Messages of Consolation to the Governments and Peoples of the   Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of Haiti, following the death of His Yoyal Highness Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, and the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew in Haiti.

 

Hurricane Matthew recently killed more than one thousand persons and injured many more and left in its wake a massive destruction of properties across Haiti.     

 

In her message to H. E. Prayut Cgan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, President Johnson Sirleaf   stated, “It is with profound shock and deep sorrow that we have learned of the death news of His Royal Highness Bhumibol Adulyadej, King of the Kingdom of Thailand.

 

According to a Foreign Ministry release, the Liberian Leader remembered His Royal Highness as being a stabilizing figure, given the essential role he played in maintaining the balance of power in the Kingdom for more than half a century.

 

The President also noted that His Royal Highness will also be remembered for exerting altruistic leadership for his People, which His Royal Highness employed in settling all forms of national challenges including political, ethnic and many other matters.

 

In the message, President Johnson Sirleaf extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia, and in her own name, to Prime Minister Prayut, and the Government and People of the Kingdom of Thailand, especially the bereaved Royal Family, for the irreparable loss sustained.

 

The Liberian leader then expressed the hope that the resilience and strength that the people of Thailand have always demonstrated in the wake of challenging circumstances will be an enduring solace during this difficult period of national mourning.    

 

And in her Message of Consolation to H.E. Mr. Jecelerme Privert, Interim President of the Republic of Haiti, President Sirleaf added, “We received with shock and sadness, news of the calamity on your country and its people resulting from the impact of Hurricane Matthew, which claimed the lives of more than one thousand persons, injuring many more and causing massive destruction of properties across Haiti.”

 

On behalf of the Government and the People of Liberia, and in her own name, President Johnson Sirleaf extended deepest condolences to Mr. Privert, and through him, to the Government and People of Haiti, especially families of those fatally affected by the irreparable loss sustained, and wished for the wounded speedy recovery.

 

President Johnson Sirleaf prayed that as the people of Haiti go through this difficult period of national disaster and mourning, the Almighty God will grant them strength, courage and fortitude to restore their vibrant country to normalcy.
