Foreign Minister Ngafuan and delegation off to ECOWAS Summit
Foreign Minister His Excellency Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan and Defence Minister Brownie Samukai leave the country today for the Ivorian Capital, Abidjan to attend an extraordinary session of the Mediation and Security Council of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers.
A Foreign Ministry release quotes Foreign Minister Ngafuan as saying the extraordinary session would primarily focus on the ongoing military situation in Mali.
Minister Ngafaun said the meeting would consider the report of the emergency meeting held by the Chiefs of Defence Staffs of ECOWAS in Abidjan on April 5 on the situation in Mali as well as the forms and modalities of intervention in the Mali crisis.
The session will also discuss critical issues regarding the political and security situation in the West African Sub-region.
The extraordinary session of the Mediation and Security Council of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers will be held on Thursday April 12, 2012.
