President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a condolence message to the President of the Republic of Senegal, His Excellency Mr. Macky Sall, following a tragic accident leading to the death of eight persons and injury of more than 60 others.

On Saturday, July 15, 2017, a wall collapsed on clashing supporters at the Demba Diop Stadium triggering a panicked stampede which led to the death of eight persons and injury to more than 60 others in Dakar, Senegal.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, in the condolence message to her Senegalese counterpart, President Sirleaf said, “As a consequence of this sad event, I wish to on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, and in my own name, extend to you, and through Your Excellency, to the Government and people of Senegal, especially the bereaved families, our heartfelt condolences for the irreparable loss sustained.”

She prayed that the Almighty Allah will grant His Excellency Mr. Sall, and the people of Senegal, strength, courage and fortitude as they go through this difficult period.
