High Powered Qatari Delegation Visits Liberia; GOL to Present Priority Areas for Intervention

A high powered delegation from the State of Qatar is in Liberia holding discussions with authorities of the Liberian Government aimed at intervening in priority areas that the Government would identify for intervention.

 

The visiting delegation is currently holding talks with authorities of at least nine (9) Government Ministries and Agencies where priorities areas and gaps are being identified for possible assistance from the Qatari Government.  

 

 

According to a Foreign Ministry release, the High powered Qatari delegation met and held fruitful discussions with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Henry B. Fahnbulleh in the C. Cecil Dennis Auditorium of the Foreign Ministry, on Monday September 23, 2019.  

  

Speaking during the meeting, Acting Liberia’s Foreign Minister Henry Fahnbulleh said the presence of the Qatari delegation in Monrovia demonstrates the excellent relations existing between Liberia and the State of Qatar. 

 

Minister Fahbbulleh said in adherence to President Weah’s public pronouncement that Liberia is opened for business, every ministry and agency of Government is robustly receptive to possible initiative that seeks to improve the Liberian economy and enhance job creation in the country.

 

The Acting Foreign Minister expressed confidence that the visit by the Qatari team will further strengthen the already cordial bilateral ties subsisting between the two countries and peoples.

 

For his part, the head of delegation representing the Qatar Fund for Development,Mr. Hamad Mohammed Al-Rumaihi described the visit as very important; stressing that it has the propensity to further solidify the relations between Liberia and the State of Qatar.

 

“Our visit is in fulfillment of the good works of the Government of Liberia and I hope the outcome of this visit will be a new dawn for Liberia” Mr. Al-Rumaihi furthered noted.

 

The Visit of the delegation is in response to a letter from H.E President George Manneh Weah to the President of Qatar H.E Sheikh Tamim seeking assistance from the State of Qatar.

 

The delegation is specifically from the Qatar Fund for Development which is the government entity responsible for Qatar's international development and foreign aid; it was established by Law 19 of 2002.

 

The Qatari Delegation which is headed by His Excellency Hamad Mohammed Al-Rumaihi, Minister Plenipotentiary of Foreign Ministry of the State of Qatar, will depart Liberia on Saturday, September 28, 2019 after a weeklong visit here. 

 

During their visit at the Foreign Ministry, the Qatari delegation also held separate meetings with, Hon, Nathaniel Mcgail, Minister of State, Hon. Samuel Tweh, Minister of Finance and Development Planning as well as Hon. Varney Sirleaf, Minister of Internal Affairs.

 

Meanwhile, Liberia’s Minister of Finance and Development Planning Hon. Samuel Tweh, used the occasion to call on the Qatari Government for budgetary support something the head of Qatari delegation said will be directed in the earmarked priority areas by the Government of Liberia.
