President Sirleaf Congratulates First Elected Female President of South Korea


President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a message of congratulations to the President -Elect of the Republic of South Korea Her Excellency Madam Park Geun-Hye on her election as the first female President of that country.


President Johnson Sirleaf in her message to the South Korean President -Elect said it was with profound pleasure that she received the news of Madam Geun-Hye election as the first democratically elected female president of South Korea.


While recalling the moment of her own victory as the first elected female President of Liberia and of Africa, President Sirleaf said "I appreciate the remarkable opportunity as well as the enormous challenge that now confront you".


President Sirleaf wished that the election of the new South Korean leader will mark another milestone for women leadership in the world and serve as another shining inspiration to women and girls around the world to work towards making meaningful contributions to the progress of their societies.


President Johnson Sirleaf noted that she was of the expectation that the cordial relations subsisting between Liberia and South Korea will receive new impetus with the election of Madam Guen-Hye, and looked forward to working with the newly-elected Korean leader for the mutual interest of their two nations and peoples.


She then on behalf of the Liberian people and in her own name extended best wishes and hearty congratulations to President- Elect Madam Park Geun-Hye on this remarkable achievement and prayed that the Almighty God will continue to shower Madam Geun-Hye with bountiful blessings of wisdom, courage and sustained good health.
