Saudi Arabia Special Envoy to Liberia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Received

Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti received the Special Envoy of the Saudi Arabian government to convey a special congratulatory message on Liberia’s successful election to the United Nations Security Council from His Excellency Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. 

The message was delivered by His Excellency Ambassador Saad Alqathami who was sent specifically by the Saudi government to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Liberia.

The Saudi diplomat also informed of his country’s desire to deepen cooperation and consultations with Liberia on issues of international peace and security during Liberia’s term on the UNSC, and further proposed that the two countries explore ways of strengthening diplomatic relations at such a critical juncture in the geo-political space. 

In response, Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti thanked the Government of Saudi Arabia for supporting Liberia’s election to the UNSC,  and for the visit of the special envoy to Liberia. She assured the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of Liberia’s commitment to international peace and security and informed of Liberia’s openness to political consultation and cooperation with the Government of Saudi Arabia. 

In response to Saudi Arabia’s interest in understanding how the cooperation can be strengthened, Minister Nyanti elaborated on Liberia’s economic diplomacy agenda and informed that Liberia will also explore means of strengthening economic, trade and commercial relations as well as exchange of experience and expertise between the two countries. She emphasized the importance of the infrastructural projects of President Joseph Nyuma Boaka, and sought a way forward to dialogue around same.

Liberia and Saudi Arabia have enjoyed strong bilateral ties over the decades and relations have continued to grow from strength in recent years as the two countries engage more at bilateral levels and consult frequently on multilateral development and international peace and security.
