The President of the Republic of Liberia, H.E. Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has sent a congratulatory message to the Government and People of the Republic of Portugal on the auspicious occasion marking their National Day celebration on June 10, 2024. According to a Foreign Ministry release, in his message to his counterpart, Mr. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of the Republic of Portugal, President Boakai extended warm felicitations on behalf of the Government and People of the Republic of Liberia and in his own name.

“As President of the Republic of Liberia, I am keen on strengthening the relations between our countries, particularly in the realm of youth empowerment, agriculture, tourism, and international peace and security”, President Boakai stressed. The Liberian leader also hope for Portugal’s cooperation in the global fight against drug addiction which is of interest to his Government and People. He then prayed that President Sousa will continue to enjoy robust health and happiness, and for the people of Portugal, progress towards renewed prosperity.
