CIVIL SERVICE AGENCY DIRECTOR-GENERAL LAUNCHES EMERGING PUBLIC LEADERS PROGRAM IN GHANA

The FrontPage reported that, the Director-General of the Civil Service Agency, Laurine Wede Johnson has described as a dream come true for young Africans, the launched of the Emerging Public Leaders program in Ghana. Like the President’s Young Professionals Program (PYPP) of Liberia, the Emerging Public Leaders (EPL) Program of Ghanaseeks to accelerate Africa’s economic growth and development gains, by cultivating a new generation of civil service leaders. The EPL recruits and develops talented young, energetic and brilliant final year students from Ghanaian universities to be trained, coaches, mentored and nurtured for placement in the Civil Service of Ghana. Honorable Johnson says the Emerging Public Leaders Program is built on the idea that investing in young graduates to from and play active roles in Arica’s development matters the most.

No New Lassa Fever Case In Liberia NPHIL Discloses                                                                                              The National public Health Institute of Liberia( NPHIL) has disclosed that as of Sunday, September 1, 2019, no new case of lassa fever was recorded. However, NPHIL in a statement said a total of 56 contacts including 36 health workers have been ‘line listed’ and followed up since the outbreak. On Sunday, September 1, 2019, it said 48 (87. 5%) were seen, none is reported symptomatic. Previously, the statement said two of the contacts suspected of being symptomatic and placed on ribavirin treatment have been discontinued owing to laboratory test being negative, adding that no new admission among contacts as of today, pens the News newspaper.

Deputy Press Secretary Unveils Dev. Envelops For Liberia                                                                Following official trip to Japan Deputy Secretary Smith Toby has termed the Trip as very successful. According to an interviewed with the News newspaper, Mr. Smith Japanese Government has recommitted itself to the development effort to Liberia. Making the disclosure Tuesday, September 3, 2019, the Deputy Presidential Press secretary said the Japanese government has  made available final materials for the completion of the 14^th Omega international market project which is ongoing.                     

EPA, GIZ SIGN MOU TO MONITOR MINING OPERATIONS IN LIBERIA

According to the FrongPage release, Authorities of Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia (EPA) and Deutsche Gesellschaft Fur Internationale  Zusammenarbeit  (GIZ) on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 signed a Understanding for the control and environmental monitoring of mining operations in Liberia. EPA Executive Director, Dr. Nathanie T. Blama and Kim Rahel Schultze, GIZ Regional Resource Governance Program Project Manager signed the MOU for the respective institutions at a ceremony held at EPA office in Sinkor. According to the MOU< GIZ Regional Resource Governance Program will initiate a support program for the EPA to effectively monitor mining operations in the country to ensure that they are in compliance with  the environmental laws. It was also agreed GIZ support the EPA in understanding and planning the reasonable distribution of responsibilities and the improvement of regulation and environmental monitoring and enforcement of mining activities in Liberia. The implementation of the program would be done in three phases including preparation and desk review and conceptual framework development, data collection / analysis, development of capacity baseline and development of capacity development plan and validation workshop with partners.

Ivorian Businesses Want to Invest in Public Transport

Ivorian Entrepreneurs have expressed interest for investment in the public transport sector to improve road transport in Liberia. The entrepreneurs’ expression of interest was disclosed recently at the end of a closed-door meeting of Acting Minister of Transport, J.Darious Kollie and other senior staff of ministry. Mr. Zoumanan Sanogo, a member of the Ivorian delegation, said the visit of Liberia was in response to the invitation made by President George Weah when he visited Cote D'Ivoire. During President Weah’s visit to Cote d’Ivoire, he asked local business to conduct in the areas for possible investment, pens the Daily Observer.
