The President of the Republic of Liberia, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah has by proclamation declared Thursday, July  11, 2019, as "African Anti-Corruption Day", to be observed throughout the Republic as a Working Holiday.

According to the Proclamation, this year will mark the 3^rd commemoration of the African Anti-Corruption campaign activities, the role of the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption will be celebrated in Monrovia  under the continental Theme: “Towards an African Common Position on Assets Recovery”.

On October 11, 2003, the Heads of State and Government of the African Union unanimously designated July 11 each year during the time they adopted the African Union Convention on Prevention and Combating corruption to be observed amongst member states.

The Proclamation asserts that in August 2008, the Government of the Republic of Liberia established the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission, education, a policy and a comprehensive Strategy that outlines the preventative, educational and enforcement measures to combat corruption in Liberia. Corruption in both in the public and private sectors of a nation undermines the institutional frame work of good governance.

 The Liberian Leader use the occasion to call upon all ministries, agencies, local and international organization, the African Union Commission and the general public to join the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission in collaboration with civil society organizations and the National Integrity Forum to plan and implement appropriate programs befitting the occasion.
