Ministry of Foreign Affairs on ‘Fire’ Rumor at the Ministry

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the public, contrary to reports that there was a massive fire outbreak at the Ministry.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, between 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, there was a minor electrical shock that emanated from the server room that hosts the internet and communications services on the fourth floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The electrical shock induced a small billow of smoke mainly confined to the internet and communications room and as a precautionary and safety measure Madam President, whose offices are also located in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with employees of both Ministries of State and Foreign Affairs were requested to evacuate the building.

The Bureau of Fire Services was called in and they aptly brought the situation under control, as well as identified the source of the problem which is now being resolved.

Working activities on all floors of the Ministry are proceeding normally, including the fifth and sixth floors which hosts the offices of the President of Liberia.
