Qatari Embassy Clarifies Media Reports on Visa Issuance in Liberia

The Embassy of the State of Qatar near Monrovia has clarified that contrary to media reports that it has commenced the issuance of visas to Liberians traveling to that country as published in two local dailies, it is instead concluding modalities to commence the issuance of official visas to only government delegations traveling to Doha, on official functions.

In the Friday, October 21, 2016 editions of the New Democrat and New Dawn newspapers, both local dailies carried a Foreign Ministry release with the captions “Qatari Embassy to Start Issuing Visas,” and “Qatar Announces the Issuance of Visas Here,” which were slightly different from the main content of the Ministry’s official press release.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, these publications were slightly a misrepresentation of the facts surrounding the issuance of visas as discussed between the Qatari Embassy’s Charge d’Affaires, Mr. Shamsan Abdullah Al Sada and H. E. Ms. Marjon V. Kamara, Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a courtesy call.

The Qatari Embassy wishes to reiterate that Liberians and other nationals wishing to travel to the State of Qatar on business and tourist purposes are advised to apply for visas through their respective hotels in Doha.

The Qatari Embassy also wishes to advise Liberian Nationals who maywant to work in Qatar, to arrange for their visas through their respective companies in Doha, the capital of the State of Qatar.
