President Weah Extols Mauritius on 51st Independence Celebration

The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Dr.  George Manneh Weah has sent a congratulatory message to the Government and People of the Republic of Mauritius on the occasion commemorating the 51st   Independence Anniversary of that country.

 

Mauritius became an independent state within the Commonwealth on March 12, 1968, with a Governor-General on the Island representing the British Monarch as Head of State. In 1991, the Legislature voted to transition to a republican form of government, and on March 12, 1992, Mauritius became a Republic, with a President as head of state.

 

In his message to Her Excellency, Mrs. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, President of the Republic of Mauritius, President George Manneh Weah, on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia, and in his own name, extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Government and People of Mauritius as they commemorate this historic occasion.

 

President George Weah prayed that as Mauritius observes this historic event, President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim will continue to be endowed with wisdom and vitality required to lead her people to nobler heights. 

 

The Liberian President also hoped that the bilateral cooperation subsisting between the two countries and peoples will be further strengthened for the mutual benefits of the two peoples.
