President Weah Congratulates New British Prime Minister
President George Manneh Weah has congratulated the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Sir Boris Johnson, on his successful election and subsequent induction as Prime Minister of that country.
In the message to the new British Prime Minister, President George Weah, on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia, extended heartfelt felicitations and best wishes to the new British leader for his preferment as Prime Minister of that county.
According to a Foreign Ministry release, while expressing joy over the occasion, the Liberian leader emphasized that the ascendency of Sir Boris Johnson as British Prime Minister resonates from his successful hosting of the London Olympic Games in 2012
.
“As you assume the mantle of leadership, I am optimistic that our two countries will continue to enhance the cordial ties of amity subsisting between us since 1847 when your country stood as the first nation in the world to recognize the sovereignty and nationhood of Liberia”, the Liberian President lamented.
President Weah then wished for Prime Minister Johnson personal good health as he serves the Government and people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
