President Sirleaf Consoles Ghana on Death of 71 in Tragic Motor Accident
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a Message of Condolence to the Government and people of the Republic of Ghana, following a tragic metro mass transit coach and cargo truck accident, between Tamale and Kumasi.
This unfortunate situation left at least seventy-one (71) persons dead and thirteen (13) injured on Wednesday evening, February 17, 2016.
In her message to the Ghanaian President, Dr. John Dramani Mahama, President Sirleaf, on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, and in her own name, extended heartfelt condolences to the Ghanaian leader, and through him, to the Government and people of Ghana, especially the families and love ones of the victims of the disaster, for the irreparable loss sustained as a result of the tragic incident.
“As the people of Ghana endure this period of mourning, I pray that God Almighty will give you strength and courage to remain steadfast in your leadership,” the Liberian leader told President Mahama.
President Sirleaf also prayed that the spirit, courage and resilience, which have characterized the people and the Government of Ghana through the ages, will see them through this period of national mourning.
