President Sirleaf Congratulates Mauritius on its 48th Independence Anniversary

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a message of congratulations to the Government and people of the Republic of Mauritius on the occasion commemorating the 48th Independence Anniversary of that country. Mauritius gained independence from Britain on March 12, 1968.

 

In a message to her Mauritian counterpart, Her Excellency Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, President Sirleaf extended sincere congratulations and best wishes to the Government and people of Mauritius on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia and in her own name.

 

According to a Foreign Ministry release, the Liberian leader assured President Gurib-Fakim of her Government’s determination to further deepen the cordial relations subsisting between the two countries and her personal support as they continue to promote peace, security and development for their peoples for the attainment of an inclusive and prosperous continent.

 

She prayed that as the people of Mauritius celebrate another milestone of nationhood, Her Excellency Gurib-Fakim will continue to lead her people to greater prosperity and a brighter future.
