Foreign Minister Findley Meets Chinese Delegation Following Courtesy Visit

Liberian Foreign Minister Gbehzohngar Milton Findley on Wednesday January 16, 2019 held fruitful bilateral discussions with two member delegation from the Chinese Embassy near Monrovia.

The bilateral meeting took place in the Holding Room on the 4th floor of the

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Chinese delegation was led by Mr. Li Jiang, Commercial Counselor at the Chinese Embassy near this capital.

Receiving the delegation, Foreign Minister Findley expressed gratitude to the Chinese for the cordially relations subsisting between Liberia and China and assured them of Liberia’s commitment to foster cooperation with China.

 

The Chinese Diplomatic Envoy disclosed plans by some Chinese investors to come to Liberia and engage into agriculture development activities in the country. 

 

 The Head of delegation Mr. Li Jiang also assured the Liberian Foreign Minister of his country’s willingness to continue the existing cooperation with Liberia.

 

He promised to continue the bilateral cooperation and existing agreements between the two countries, adding “we are ready to sign MOU with China at all times for the mutual benefit of the two countries”.

 

For his part, the Head of Delegation Li Jiang thanked Foreign Minister Findley for the warm reception accorded them at the Ministry.

 

The two sides discussed critical bilateral issues including peace and security as well as issues relating to the recently held Focal summit in China.

 

The visiting team further extended an invitation from his Embassy to Foreign Minister Findley to pay an official visit to China to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart aimed at strengthening the friendly relations between Liberia and the People’s Republic of China.

 

The Ceremony was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Hon. B. Elias Shoniyin and Assistant Foreign Minister for Afro Asian Affairs, Hon.  Naomie M. Gray.
