EU Emergency Funding to Tackle Floods

EU Emergency Funding to Tackle Floods

In partnership with the Government of the Republic of Liberia, the European Union has contributed EUR 130,000 (USD 141,028.55) to aid flood victims in Montserrado, Bong, and Grand Cape Mount counties. This funding will support the Liberia National Red Cross in providing shelters and essential services to vulnerable groups, particularly women, children, and the physically challenged.

The aid is part of a broader effort to manage the ongoing crisis, expected to last until November 2024, amidst continuous extreme rainfall. According to the European Union mission near Monrovia, the multi-purpose cash grants will cover non-food items as well as livelihood, water, hygiene, and sanitation needs. These coordinated humanitarian actions are expected to last four months, until the end of November 2024.
