The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Mr. George Manneh Weah, has sent a Congratulatory Message to the Government and people of the Republic of Zimbabwe, on the occasion commemorating that country’s 39^th Independence Anniversary.

On April 18, 1980, Southern-Rhodesia gained independence from the British, taking the name Zimbabwe. The day marked the end of racial segregation after a protracted war of liberation that claimed many lives.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, in the message to his Zimbabwean counterpart, H. E. Emmerson Mnangagwa, President George Manneh Weah extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes, on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, and in his own name, to the Government and people of Zimbabwe.

“As we join you and the great people of Zimbabwe in commemorating this historic event, we are hopeful that you will sustain the peace and stability enjoyed by the people of Zimbabwe for so many years;” the Liberian leader declared.

Meanwhile, President Weah then looks forward to strengthening the bilateral ties between both countries for the mutual benefit of their peoples.

The Liberian leader also prayed that the Almighty God will endow President Mnangagwa with manifold blessings as he leads his compatriots to greater prosperity.
