The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appointed Liberian Journalist Augustine Hamelberg as Press Attaché to the Embassy of Liberia in Berlin, Germany.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, Augustine Hamelberg appointment which is approved by President George Manneh Weah is predicated on his tested ability, integrity and strong desire to serve the interest of Liberia.

Mr. Hamelberg will work closely with Liberia’s Head of Mission in Germany, and other officers at the Embassy, in deploying his best efforts in promoting the foreign policy objectives of Liberia through strengthening Liberia’s relations with Germany; with multiple accreditations to Austria, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.

Prior to his appointment in government, Augustine Hamelberg has been a broadcast journalist for more than fifteen years working as a Radio Producer at UNITED NATIONS Mission in Liberia Radio Station; now ECOWAS Regional Radio, from 2010 to 2018. He also worked as a Producer at DC 101.1 FM and DCTV from 2001 to 2004; Augustine also served as Director of Radio and Programs at Royal Communications Inc., (King’s FM and Clar TV) from 2004 to 2010.

He studied at the University of Liberia, African University Collage of Journalism, Accra Ghana as well as the Kofi Annan Peacekeeping Institute Training Center in Accra, Ghana in Conflict Analysis and Mediation.

As Press Attaché, Mr. Hamelberg will, among other tasks, provide media coverage of news related events, provide support in the management of the Liberian Embassy’s website in Germany and coordinate effective media relations.
