“Liberia Will Not Fail”- President Weah Tells Liberians

President George Manneh Weah has declared that Liberia, irrespective of the varying level of pessimisms harbor by some Liberians, will not fail with God being in control of its destiny. The Liberian leader urged Liberians “To have faith, trust and believe God and stop being negative about the country: ”adding it is the only responsibility required of Liberians during this time of national celebration of the 171st independence. He spoke Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Centennial Pavilion during the Thanksgiving and Intercessory Service in observance of the 171st Independence of the Republic which falls on July 26. The Liberia leader said he strongly believes that it was high time Liberians bind their faith together because “together the nation cannot fail. He also admonished Liberians to remain optimistic of their country and know that God will not fail them, reports the New Dawn newspaper.

For Touching Lives Of Liberian Refugees: Nigerian Philanthropist Wins Int’l Humanitarian Award

A Nigerian philanthropist, Chief Clifford Obioma Nzeruem has been crowned winner of the international humanitarian award at the just ended Golden Image Award (GIA) for his continued selfless services to humanity over the years. Founded in 2011, the GIA is an annual awards ceremony organized by the Liberia Crusaders for Peace (LCP) and executed by the GIA Secretariat. The awards are intended to honor individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions to mankind and society over the years. Quoting a GIA release, the Heritage newspaper reads that Chief Clifford Obloma Nzeruem, who was represented by his son, Nzerum Cliff Emeka, was given the International Humanitarian Award for his unending humanitarian assistance, particularly to Liberians in Nigeria and adjoining countries.

China Assures Liberia Military Support

China says it will try to help the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) with its overall development by providing more support and assistance to further enhance the traditional friendship with Liberia. “We will continue to cooperate on military personnel training, in the future, we wish to inject impetus to the long - term development of this good relationship,” a top Chinese military official in Liberia said Friday, July 20th at the 91st anniversary of the People Liberation Army (PLA) of China. According to the Chinese military official, in the past China - Liberia military relations have been growing steadily, saying the Ministry of National Defense of China will provide AFL with medical equipment and medicine, reads the New Dawn newspaper.

In New York LWSC Boss Craves Support For WASH

The Managing Director of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC), Mr. Duannah A. Kamara has underscored the need for governments across the globe to exercise what he called political will to champion issues of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). According to the Heritage newspaper, Mr. Kamara is heading a Liberian delegation at a WASH Conference held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The daily reads that the New York WASH conference is in continuation of the just ended Paris UNESCO First Water Policy Interface Colloquium (SPIC).

FAO Donated Laptops To NAFFA

According to the In Profile Daily, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nation has pledged it commitment to the development and enhancement of the Liberian Fisheries Section.  FAO said it has great interest in the overall transformation and improvement of the Liberian Fisheries Sector and is prepared to provide the needed logistical support to move the sector forward. The daily says the pledge was made during the entity’s donation of the three(3) laptops computers to the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) at  its Freeport office on the Bushrod Island.

House Goes For 3 Weeks Break

House Speaker Bhofal Chambers discloses that members of the House of Representatives have taken a three-week break in observance of 171st Independence Day Celebrations, which kicked of last Friday in Monrovia with prayers offered by Muslims. Addressing reporters at the Capitol Thursday after turnover of the newly constructed annexes to the Capitol by the People's Republic of China, Speaker Chambers said he is very hopeful that before the break, all human sensitive bills before that body will be passed, reads the New Dawn newspaper.

Liberia Prepares For Biodiversity Data Gathering

According to the Daily Observer News Paper, a professional workshop on Biodiversity information Facility (GBIF) that is aimed at providing anyone, anywhere open access to Biodiversity Data Information about all types of life on Earth, is currently taking place at the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) Headquarter in Monrovia. Coordinated through its secretariat in Copenhagen, GBIF provides data-holding institution around the world with common standard and open-source tools that enable these countries to share information about where and when species have been recorded. 

Governor Sirleaf Lauds WAIFENM For Successful Capacity Building

According to the Daily Observer News Paper, acting Central Bank Governor Charleaf E. Sirleaf has lauded the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM) for successfully building the capacity in the sub-region over the past two decades. Governor Sirleaf spoke on Monday at the kickoff of the regional course on economic and financial report writing skills and presentation techniques organized by WAIFEN. The week long training brought together participants from Nigeria, Ghana, The Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.
