UN-Habitat High Power Delegation paid courtesy call on Liberia's Foreign Minister

A high powered delegation representing The UN-Habitat in Africa Friday April 18, 2014 paid a courtesy call on Liberian Foreign Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to acquaint the Minister of their mission in Liberia.

 The delegation which was headed by H.E. Aisa  Karibo Kacyira  during their discussion with Minister Ngafuan commended President Johnson Sirleaf and her government for the level of progress made under the dynamic leadership of Africa’s first female president.  

The high level delegation held a fruitful discussion with Liberia’s Foreign Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan on the future of the country’s land and natural resources and how to manage the natural environments to the benefits of the population.

While receiving the delegation Liberia’s foreign minister at thanked the visiting team and have them visit at Land, Mines and Energy Ministry as well as the Land Commission of Liberia. He said government was appreciative of their visit. The Liberia’s Foreign Minister recounted the ten years of uninterrupted peace in Liberia which he described as a great milestone in the Liberia postwar history.

He said though Liberia was devastated by 14 years of brutal civil crisis, the nation has realized eight years of peace with remarkable achievements since the election of Africa’s first female president , Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf whose visionary leader is quit inspiring.

For her part, the head of delegation told the Minister they were in Liberia to hold discussions with relevant government Agencies including the Land Commission and the Ministry of Land, Mines and Energy on how to preserve and maintain the country’s natural Habitat. 

The head of the group said they were here upon the invitation of president Sirleaf to open engagement with government agencies, adding Liberia has scored huge mark in providing quality leadership that attracting international support.

While praising President Sirleaf for her visionary leadership, the head of visiting team hailed the President for her role in pushing for the at Post 2015 Development Agenda, and call on African leaders  not to focus only on rural development in their countries but also strengthen continental initiatives  that will sustain  economic growth on the continent.
