British Minister of Foreign and Common Wealth Affairs Visits Liberia

 British Minister for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Mr. Mark Simmonds arrives in Liberia today, October 14, 2013 for a two-day official working visit.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, the British Minister who is also the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State will perform the formal reopening of the British Embassy near Monrovia on Tuesday, October 15, 2013. Mr. Mark Simmonds will be joined by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, for the ceremony that will mark the formal re-opening of the British Embassy in Sinkor.

Also during the two-day visit, Mr. Simmonds will hold discussions with senior government officials aimed at reinforcing bilateral relations between Liberia and the United Kingdom (UK) and review UK’s support to Liberia.

Mr. Simmonds is expected to hold bilateral discussions with Foreign Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, Defense Minister Brownie Samaukai and Justice Minister Christina Tah. He is expected to tour facilities of the Liberia National Police Training Academy in Paynesville City alongside Justice Minister Christiana Tah.

The British Minister for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs is also expected to pay a courtesy call on Her Excellency Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia. During the courtesy visit, Mr. Simmonds is expected to discuss wide range of bilateral and political issues with President Sirleaf.
