Statement By The Government of Liberia On The Reported Use Of Chemical Weapons In The Syrian Crisis

The Government of Liberia has reacted with consternation to the reported use of chemical weapons in the Syrian conflict. The use of chemical weapons in any conflict is prohibited under the Chemical Weapons Convention, and therefore its use by any party in any conflict is a complete violation of international law, which must be unequivocally condemned.

The Government of Liberia therefore supports the current mission of the United Nations team investigating the reported use of chemical weapons in the Syrian crisis. The culpable party or parties in the perpetration of this heinous crime against the Syrian people must not go with impunity and must be held fully accountable by the international community.
