President Sirleaf Congratulates India On Its Independence Day

President Ellen Jonson Sirleaf has sent a message of congratulations to the Government and People of the Republic of India on the occasion marking the 66th Independence Anniversary of that country.
In her message to her Indian counterpart, His Excellency President Prarad Mukherjee,   the Liberian leader extended on behalf of Liberia heartiest congratulations and warmest felicitations to the Government and People of India as they celebrate this historic occasion.
President Jonson Sirleaf recalled how the unfurling of the flag of an independent and sovereign India at the stroke of midnight on August 15,1947 ignited the torch of freedom and  inspired  the movement for independence by  people around the world still under colonial rule.
President Johnson Sirleaf noted with satisfaction the cordial and friendly relations between Liberia and India, adding that Liberia is pleased with India’s participation in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Liberia and expressed hope the both governments will continue to work cooperatively together for the mutual benefits of the two nations and peoples.
She then wished for President Mukherjee personal wellbeing and for the Government and People of India continued peace and prosperity.
