Qatar Donates S-350 Mercedes Benz to Liberia and Promises to Deepen Cooperation

The Government of the State of Qatar, through its Embassy near Monrovia donated a S-350 Mercedes Benz as a gift from the Government of Qatar to the Republic of Liberia on Tuesday, June 18 2019.  

 

According to a Foreign Ministry release, the Presentation ceremony took place in the Conference Room on the 4th floor of the Foreign Ministry.

 

At the colorful ceremony, the Handover/ Acceptance Notes was signed between the State of Qatar and Liberia. Liberia’s Foreign Minister Milton Gbazohngar Findley signed for Liberia, while the Charge d’ Affaires of the Qatari Embassy near Monrovia, Mr Fahad Rashid Al- Merakhi signed on behalf of his government.

 

The Qatari good way donation to Liberia at this critical time is in the framework of the bilateral cooperation between Liberia and Qatar which the Qatari envoy stressed will help cement the friendly relations between Qatar and Liberia.     

 

 Presenting the vehicle on behalf of the Government and people of Qatar, the Charge d’ Affaires of the Embassy of the State of Qatar, Mr Fahad Rashid Al- Merakhi said the gesture is a  demonstration of his government’s unflagging desire to strengthen the bilateral cooperation subsisting between Liberia and Qatar.      

 

 Mr. Al-Merakhi told the audience that as part of efforts to enhance cooperation with Liberia, the government of Qatar will be sending a high level Qatari delegation here to hold bilateral meeting with authorities of the Liberian government aimed at finalizing pending cooperation Agreements between both countries geared towards improving Liberia-Qatar relations.   

 

He disclosed that in order to enhance and strengthen the two countries’ relationship, Qatar decided to extend invitation to Dr. George Manneh Weah, President of the Public of Liberia for a State visit to Qatar to hold bilateral   meeting with the Qatari leader, aimed at strengthening the cordial ties of friendship between both governments and peoples.        

Receiving the key on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, Foreign Minister Gbezohngar Milton Findley thanked the State of Qatar for the gesture and noted that the gift came just at the right time, adding that it will help address some of the logistics gaps. 

 

The Liberian Foreign Minister then assured the Qatari Charge d’Affaire of Liberia’s desire to work with Qatar so as to expand and improve the two countries’ bilateral cooperation. 

 

Commenting on the pending Cooperation Agreement between Liberia and Qatar, Minister Findley disclosed that discussions were underway among relevant government       Ministries and agencies to resume engagement with the Embassy of Qatar aimed at finalizing said Agreement.  The Minister told the Qatari Charge d’Affaires that his government is working out modalities to appoint an Ambassador to the State of Qatar very soon.        

 

The Minister then expressed deep appreciation to the Government and people of Qatar for its numerous interventions in Liberia and hailed Qatar desire to extend invitation to the Liberian leader for a State Visit to that country in order to hold talks with his Qatari counterpart, aimed at strengthening the cordial relationship between the two nations.
