President Sirleaf Extols Germany's 24th Unity Day, Congratulates Iraq, Lesotho

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf during the week sent separate congratulatory messages to the Government and People of the Federative Republic of Germany on the occasion commemorating the 24th Anniversary of German Unity Day and the Governments and Peoples of the Republic of Iraq and the Kingdom of Lesotho on the official observance of the 82nd and 48th Independence
Anniversaries of the two countries respectively.

“I would like to convey my sincere congratulations and profound best wishes to you and the government and people of the Federative Republic of Germany on behalf of the Government and People of the Republic of Liberia and in my own behalf”, President Sirleaf declared in her
message to her German counterpart, His Excellency Joachim Gauck.

She said Germany-Liberia relations have continued to grow stronger over the years. The President asserted that Germany remains a very important partner to Liberia, acknowledging its assistance to Liberia during this difficult period of the country’s history, particularly in
the wake of the Ebola virus outbreak.

President Sirleaf further noted with gratitude, Germany’s plan to assist Liberia in combating the deadly virus that is ravaging the nation.

At the same time, the Liberian Leader has congratulated the Republic of Iraq and the Kingdom of Lesotho on their respective 82nd and 48th Independence Anniversaries. In her message to his Excellency Mr. Fuad Masum, President of the Republic of Iraq, President Johnson Sirleaf extended warmest felicitations and best wishes to the Government and People of that Asian nation as it celebrates its 82nd Independence Anniversary.

President Sirleaf wished for the Iraqi leader personal well-being and for the people of Iraq future prosperity.

To the Government and People of the Kingdom of Lesotho President Johnson Sirleaf conveyed warmest congratulations and best wishes following their 48th Independence observance. She then assured the Government of Lesotho of Liberia’s determinations to work closely with
Lesotho aimed at strengthening the cordial relations existing between both Governments and Peoples as the two nations endeavor to promote prosperity for their two peoples and lead them to brighter future.
