President Sirleaf Commissions Ambassadors to the UK and Ghana.

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has commissioned Liberia’s Ambassadors to the United Kingdom and Ghana respectively at her Foreign Ministry Office in Monrovia.

 

According to an Executive Mansion release, those commissioned were Dr. S. Mohammed Sheriff, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Liberia to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Ambassador Genevieve A. Kennedy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic to the Republic of Ghana.

 

Performing the commissioning ceremony on Friday, September 16, 2016 in the Cabinet Room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Sirleaf expressed the hope that the commissioned officials will represent the country with a high level of professionalism and allegiance in the performance of their duties to improve the image of Liberia.

 

President Sirleaf said, individuals given the opportunity to represent the country abroad must exhibit competence, loyalty and integrity and commitment in their assignments. She congratulated and thanked them including their respective families for standing by them.

 

Speaking on behalf of the commissioned officials, Ambassador Dr. S. Mohammed Sheriff, commended President Sirleaf for their preferment and promised to work and not to disappoint the Liberian leader and the Liberian people in general with a determination to strengthen the ties between Liberia and the countries to which they have been assigned.

 

Ambassador Sheriff Said President Sirleaf’s strong leadership over the last eleven years has enabled Liberia to regain a premier role and position in the comity of nations.

 

He furthered as a matter of fact, when Liberia speaks or makes interventions at international fora, everyone listens stressing, “I thank you for making our country proud and respected,” Dr. Sheriff noted. Friday’s ceremony was attended by Acting Foreign Minister, B. Elias Shoniyin, including the Advisor to the President on Foreign Affairs, Ambassador George Wallace, government officials as well as family and friends of the commissioned diplomats.
