President Goodluck Jonathan Sends Goodwill Message to President Sirleaf

As Liberia continues its celebration of 10 years of sustained peace, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has sent a Goodwill Message to his counterpart, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the government and people of Liberia.

“It is with utmost pleasure that I write on behalf of the government and citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to congratulate you, the government and good people of the sisterly Republic of Liberia on this special occasion of your commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement which has ushered in ten consecutive years of peace in your ‘sweet land of liberty’,” President Jonathan’s message stated.

According to an Executive Mansion release, the Nigerian leader joined Liberia in remembering and honoring those brothers and sisters who paid the supreme price to bring about the peace that the country happily enjoys under the leadership of President Sirleaf.

President Jonathan continued: “Sustained peace and security are prerequisites for the achievement of real economic growth and development, which should propel your dear country to its rightful position in the comity of nations.” He added that the government and people of Nigeria stand ready to work with President Sirleaf, her government and the Liberian people, as partners in progress in the sustenance of peace and security in Liberia, the ECOWAS sub-region, in the region and the world at large.

Concluding, the Nigerian President wished Liberia continued peace and prosperity.
