
President Boakai Extols Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day
The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has sent a congratulatory message to the Government and people of Ireland on the occasion marking the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day on March 17, 2025. According to a Foreign Ministry release, St. Patrick’s Day, or the Feast of St. Patrick is a cultural and religious celebration held on March 17, the traditional death date of St. Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland. The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and, by extension, celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general. In his message to Irish President, His Excellency Michael D. Higgins, President Boakai expressed pleasure and extended on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia and in his own name, heartfelt congratulations to the Government and people of Ireland.
President Boakai stated that as Liberians join the Irish people in commemorating this significant occasion, it is his sincere hope that the bonds of friendship between the two nations will continue to flourish and reach new heights. The Liberian leader added that Ireland and Liberia have share similar engagement on the international scene such as the promotion of human rights, democracy, and adherence to the rule of law. He emphasized his wish that the bilateral ties between the two countries which is characterized by friendliness and harmony will explore new avenues to further strengthens the relations while continuing to collaborate in areas such as Agriculture, Education, Sanitation, Tourism, and supporting global security. President Boakai wished his counterpart continued good health and happiness, and for the people of Ireland, renewed progress and prosperity.
