A HIGH-LEVEL MOROCCAN DELEGATION VISITS LIBERIA

A High-level Government delegation from the Kingdom of Morocco visited Monrovia on September 10-11, 2011, The  delegation arrived in the country as official guests of the Liberian Government in furtherance of the Liberia-Morocco joint commission Agreement signed IN April 2011.

The high-powered Moroccan delegation was headed by Mr. Youssef Imani, General Director of Moroccan International Cooperation Agency.

The delegation was received upon arrival by officials of the Liberian Government headed by Amb. Sylvester Grigsby, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Cooperation and Economic Integration.

During the visit, the Moroccan delegation held talks with top officials of the Liberian Government, followed by a Joint Working Session among members of the visiting delegation and Representatives of the Liberian Government, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the working session , both the Governments of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Liberia reaffirmed their commitments to strengthen the scope and depth of their bilateral relations on the basis of shared value between the two countries.

 During the discussion, the visiting delegation pledged its commitments to support the Liberian Post Conflict Recovery Programs, especially in the areas of Youth and Sports through a cooperative collaboration framework.

On the basis of this framework, the two parties agreed to implement the following actions, during the period 2011 and 2012.

The parties focus on keys  priority areas including youth, children and women issues (affairs), sports, executive training and technical assistance amongst others.

In the area of sports ,the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco under the arrangement is expected to host both Liberian Olympic and Youth Teams to organize Training Session in Morocco. Two Liberian Medical Staff will also benefit from the Moroccan experience under the same arrangement. similarly, two Liberian Coaches will be hosted by Morocco in order to participate in training for the  upgrading and accomplishing of their expertise.

In the area of Executive Training, the Government of Morocco granted three pedagogic seats with scholarship to Liberian Students to study at the Royal Institute of Executive Training (IRFC). The beneficiaries will under go four- year training program (French major as added advantage). The Executive Training will encourage and enable participants to research, document  and share experiences in the field of executive youth and sports.
