Germany delegation holds discussion with Liberia Government

A high-powered Government delegation from the Federal Republic of Germany arrived in the country over the weekend to hold discussions with authorities of the Liberian Government.

The high-powered visiting delegation includes members of the Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development from the German Parliament (Deutscher Bundestag) .The German Officials have been holding talks with a cross-section of the Liberian government. The delegation arrived in Liberia on April 29 and will depart on March 3, 2012.

A Foreign Ministry release says Mr. Uwe Kekeritz, at the head of the delegation  is accompanied by Mrs. Helga Daub of  Federal Democratic Party (FDP), Mrs. Ulla Jelpke of the Left Party,  and Mrs. Karin Roth of the Socialist Democratic Party of Germany.   Other members of the visiting delegation include a representative of the German Parliament as well as an interpreter from Germany.

Accompanied by the German Ambassador, the Committee will visit the Foreign Ministry to meet with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Foreign Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan.

While in the country, the Committee is expected to hold discussions with members of the 53rd National Legislature of the Republic of Liberia.  The group was met upon arrival at the Roberts International Airport by officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As part of its visit, the visiting Committee will also pay a one-day visit to Gbarnga, Bong County, on Tuesday, May 1, 2012.

The head of the delegation Mr. Uwe Kekeritz chairs the Subcommittee on Health in Developing Countries and is also a member of the Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development and a Deputy Member of the Committee on Health.
