The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has transferred its archive to the Center for National Documents and Records Agency (CNDRA) in Monrovia.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, officially turning over the documents to the Director General of CNDRA, Madam P. Bloh Sayeh, Acting Foreign Minister Hon. Elias Shoniyin said the decision was taken consistent with an Act passed by the National Legislature in 1977, which gives the CNDRA the responsibility to manage all archives within the Republic of Liberia. He said Government enacted a law of preserving the country’s history through documentation.

Minister Shoniyin said the Ministry was pleased to turn over the historical instruments to be used by future generations to what he described as “good hands”. He said the Ministry was in no way perplexed to turn over the documents.

Director Sayeh in her statement of acceptance said the day was historic. She said it was the first time to get the deeds and land records turn over to the center which is the official home of the documents.  She said the CNDRA is the place for all records and documents to be collected every ten years.  The CNDRA Director General said Foreign Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan will be remember as the Foreign Minister who put the nation’s interest first by making sure that all land records were brought under one roof to increase land tenure security.

She furthered that land conflict will be reduced when the records are organized properly, thus improving land tenure security.  

She noted that the gesture by the Foreign Ministry will enhance the CNDRA’s performance on the Millennium Challenge Corporation making sure that Liberia gets the millennium Challenge grant. She said one of the requirements for the Millennium Challenge Grant is to bring all     One of the requirements is to bring   millennium land records under one roof.
