Foreign Ministry Hosts One-Day Retreat for Honorary Consul to Attract Investment for Liberia

The Government of the Republic of Liberia, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has announced the holding of a one-day retreat for Honorary Consul Generals at the Boulevard Palace Hotel, in Sinkor on Tuesday, July 24, 2018.

   

The retreat is expected to bring together Honorary Consul Generals across the globe as well as key Ministries and Agencies of Government.    

 

According to a Foreign Ministry release, the President of the Republic of Liberia, H. E. George Manneh Weah is expected to deliver a Special Statement at the Opening Session.

 

The Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Development Planning, Commerce and Industry, the LRA as well as the National Investment Commission will make presentations at the retreat.

 

The retreat is geared towards deriving national strategies aimed at attracting sustainable development assistance and investment opportunities to Liberia.  

 

The event will be held under the Theme: “The Role of Honorary Consul in Stimulating Government’s Pro-Poor Development Agenda.” 

 

During the retreat, Participants will develop a practical roadmap aimed at enhancing Liberian foreign policy drive as a conduit of the Pro-Poor Agenda which is intended to seek the welfare, and reduce poverty among the down trodden masses.   

 

The forum will develop a platform through which Honorary Consul Generals abroad will determine viable strategies to deepen engagements with host governments and private sectors within their jurisdictions.

 

The move will also encourage and attract investment opportunities and enhance partnership and cooperation with bilateral friends around the world.

 

 Furthermore, participants at the retreat will focus on critical development priorities such as trade, technical and logistical assistance for Liberia, as well as to accelerate government’s efforts to operationalize existing bilateral and multilateral agreements for speedy economic growth and recovery.
