Foreign Minister Ngafuan Heads Liberia's Delegation at The Third Quadripartite Meeting in Abidjan

A high powered Government of Liberia delegation headed by Foreign Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan is in neighboring Cote d'Ivoire attending the 3rd Quadripartite Meeting between the Governments of Liberia and Cote d'Ivoire, the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) and the United Nations Operations in Cote d'Ivoire (UNOCI).

According to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs release, the 3rd Quadripartite Meeting is focused on the thematic areas of Justice and Security; Peace and Reconciliation; Humanitarian, Political and Diplomatic issues. The release further indicated that the Meeting will take stock of progress made on security, humanitarian, and peace building measures as agreed in the Communiqué of its 2nd sitting in Monrovia on April 5, 2013 and also seek to strengthen mechanisms for information sharing and confidence building among communities along the border.

It can be recalled that the Quadripartite meeting arrangement was organized to address security concerns along the Liberian-Ivorian border following a June 8, 2012 attack which claimed the lives of 7 Military Officers of UNOCI, 1 Ivorian Military Officer and 10 Ivorian civilians.

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) of the United Nations, Karin Landgren is representing the United Nations Mission In Liberia (UNMIL).

Wheatonia Dixon Barnes -Deputy Minister of Justice for Administration, Hon. Abla Williams-Executive-Director Liberia Refugee, Repatriation and Resettlement Commission, Hon. Robert Budy -Deputy Commissioner of Immigration, Hon. Abraham Kromah-Deputy Commissioner of Police for Operations and representatives of other government intuitions.
