2012 Inaugural Steering Committee Constituted
MONROVIA, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2ND, 2011: The President of the Republic of
Liberia has constituted the 2012 Inaugural Steering Committee.
According to a Foreign Ministry release, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Toga Gayewea McIntosh will chair the 2012 Inaugural Steering Committee. He will work with the National Legislative Committees responsible for the Inauguration.
The release notes that in order to commence thorough planning and preparation to ensure a flawless implementation of the various activities and programs expected to characterize the historic
occasion, a broad representation of ministries, agencies and other parastatals constitute the Committee. They include the Ministries of State, Information, Culture, & Tourism, Justice, Defense, Education, Health & Social Welfare, Internal Affairs, National Security, Public
Works, Youth & Sports and Gender & Development.
Others are the General Services Agency (GSA), Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), Special Security Services (SSS), Liberia National Police (LNP), Inter-Religious Council, Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY), Liberian Student Union (LINSU), Angie Brooks International
Center (ABIC), Roberts International Airport (RIA), Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA), Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), Liberia Water & Sewer Corporation (LWSC), Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), Liberia Marketing Association (LMA) and the
Grassroots Democratic Party of Liberia (GDPL).
The Committee has already begun its work considering the enormous task at hand and time constraints. It has called on the community at large, the private sector, and friends of Liberia to cooperate with the Committee in the discharge of this eventful national celebration.
