Foreign Minister Welcomes Saudi Envoy, Affirms Commitment to Strengthening Bilateral and Multilateral Cooperation

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Her Excellency Mme. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, received a high-level delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by Special Envoy Ambassador Saad Alqathami. The envoy delivered a personal congratulatory message from His Excellency Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, celebrating Liberia’s successful election to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

The visit marked a strategic moment in Liberia-Saudi relations, with Ambassador Alqathami expressing Riyadh’s intent to deepen bilateral cooperation and multilateral consultations on peace and security throughout Liberia’s UNSC tenure. He further proposed enhanced diplomatic engagement amid shifting global dynamics.

Minister Nyanti welcomed the gesture with gratitude, reaffirming Liberia’s commitment to international peace and openness to political dialogue. She outlined Liberia’s economic diplomacy agenda, emphasizing the need to expand trade, investment, and technical exchange. Notably, she spotlighted President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s infrastructure priorities as a potential area for Saudi collaboration.

As Liberia assumes its UNSC seat, the dialogue with Saudi Arabia signals a broader ambition: to leverage global partnerships in pursuit of national development and regional stability.
