GN Bank Assures Liberians 

The management of the Ghana Net Bank (GN Bank) Liberia Limited has assured the Liberian populace that it is ready to provide the best management, technology and close-to-client services to make it the bank of choice in Liberia. GN Bank which acquired First International Bank of Liberia or FIBank, commenced banking operations Monday, June 6, 2016 after obtaining a license from the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) to provide banking products and services to the Liberian public, reports the New Dawnnewspaper.

IMP– USA Identifies With Three Health Institutions-Promises More Support To Liberia

A non–profit health organization in the United States of America, International Medical Project (IMP – USA) has donated assorted medical supplies and equipment to three health care institutions in Liberia. They are the Du – side Hospital in Harbel, Margibi County as well as the Family Medical Center in Jacob Town, Paynesville and the New Sight Eye Center (NSEC) in the 72nd Community, Paynesville which is hosting Liberia Health System Solutions. Speaking during the presentations of the medical supplies and equipment to the three health care centers, International Medical Project – USA President, Leon P. Randall said the donations by the organization is to help  make the health care institutions’ delivery efforts effective and efficient while addressing the lack of medical equipment in Liberia, reports the FrontPage Africa newspaper.

VP Boakai Wants Sports Academy In New Kru Town

According to the New Dawn newspaper, Liberia’s Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai has proposed the establishment of a Borough Sports Academy in New Kru Town through a comprehensive sports program. The Vice President stressed that it will enable the government prepare the youths in all aspects of sports.

Ganta Residents To Benefit 20 Hand Pumps

The New Dawn newspaper pens that residents of Ganta City and its environs in Electoral District One, Nimba County are expected to benefit from 20 hand pumps shortly. Citizens of district one reached the decision over the weekend in a town hall meeting with their Representative, Jeremiah Koung. According to the daily, the citizens of District agreed to spend US$70,000 to construct 20 hand pumps in the district.

MIA Reviews Local Government Act In Sanniquellie

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has ended an explicit review of the local government act of Liberia in Sanniquellie City, Nimba County under what it calls “A Dialogue between County Legislative Caucus and County Administration.” The dialogue was held Friday, June 3, 2016 with the theme: “Decentralization” A new way to serve Liberia.” The forum which was held at the Tubman Hall in Sanniquellie, brought together the seventeenth (17) Commissioners of the seventeenth Administrative Districts of the County and attended by educators, civil society group and students, as well, reports the New Dawn newspaper.

China Union Turns over Bong Mines Hospital to Government

The China Union Mining Company has turned over the Bong Mines to the Liberian Government to continue providing medical services for the people of Bong Mines and its surroundings. According to a press release issued over the weekend, China Union Management said the action is in keeping with a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the company and authorities of the Ministry of Health. The release observed that the management has agreed to pay off all 82 health workers at the hospital, including their benefits, as required by the labor laws of Liberia and in keeping with the MOU, theHeritage newspaper reports.

Health Ministry Dedicates US$200k Clinic in Beletanda

An inside story of the Heritage daily writes that the Ministry of Health has dedicated a 20-bedroom health facility valued at over US$200,000 in Beletanda, Bong County. The facility will provide services to over 10,000 persons in Sanoyea and Beletanda, as well as towns and villages across the Saint Paul River in Gbarpolu and parts of Lofa County. The project was initiated by former Bong County Senator Richard K. Flomo, who provided the land and began construction work in mid-1990 but later turned it over to the Bong County Health Team (BCHT) through the office of Bong County Senator Jewel Howard Taylor, who sought budgetary support for its completion.

Hydro Electricity Imminent for Gbarpolu EU makes Commitment

Senate Pro-Tempore Armah Jallah has disclosed plans by the European Union (EU) to construct a modern Hydropower Plant in four locations within Gbarpolu County. The Gbarpolu County Senator and Chairman of the County Legislature Caucus made the disclosure to reporters Monday following an assessment with the EU’s delegation in the county over the weekend, the In Profile Daily reports.
