NaFAA Boss To Address UN Side Event In New York

 

According to the Insight Newspaper, the Director General of the Liberia’s National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA), Mrs. Emma Metieh Glassco, has been invited by Authorities of the World Maritime University in collaboration with Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to serve as a keynote Speak during an International event in the United States of America (USA). An alumnus of the World Maritime University in Swedish, Mrs. Glassco who hold MSc degree in Maritime Affairs with emphasis in Ocean Government, will speak at the event during the United Nations General Assembly under the theme: “Capacity Building for successful International Negotiation and Diplomacy in regards to Biodiversity beyond National Jurisdiction future legal instrument.”

MYS Launches 2018 Cadet Program

 

The Government of Liberia (GoL) through the Ministry of Youth and Sports with support from Mercy Corps has launched this year’s National Cadet Program. Official program for the launch of the 2018 National Cadet Program was held Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Ministry in Paynesville, outside Monrovia. Speaking at the official launch of the program, Youth and Sports Minister, Mr. D. Zeogar Wilson, said considering the high unemployment rate among the youthful population, the government through the MYS, must strive to prioritize programs that are geared to create empowerment for them (youth). “We, as a government must provide means for the empowerment of young people in the country. There must be government programs that support youth employment and empowerment,” Minister Wilson added, reports the Insight newspaper.

Ghanaian Agro-Company to Invest In Mechanize Rice Farming in Liberia

One of the leading Ghanaian Agro-Company Abanga and Grace (A&G) Agro-Mechanical Industries is expected to invest in a large scale mechanize cultivation farming of rice in Liberia. A&G Agro is a grassroots cost-effective ones-stop comprehensive farming/agriculture business solutions provider.  The multi-million investment is also intended to achieve self-sufficiency in the production for local market and the possible for export to other ECOWAS countries. This was contained in a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Government of Liberia and a private Ghanaian Agro-Company A&G Agro-Mechanical Industries, pens the Insight newspaper. 

Minister Findley Commission Salvatore d’Amico as Liberia’s Honorary Consul Italy

 

The Insight newspaper quotes a Foreign Ministry release as saying that Foreign Minister Gbehzongar Milton Findley has commissioned Mr.Salvatore d’Amico as Liberia Honorary Consul to Civitavecchia, the Republic of Italy. The ceremony took place in the Minister’s Conference Room on the fourth floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Salvatore d’Amico currently serves as Fleet Director of d’Amico, an Italian based shipping company that has over 60 years in the business of Maritime shipping with 22 registered vessels in Liberia.

Retiring Weah’s ‘14’ Lone Star Faces Super Eagle in President Honoring Match

The Lone Star of Liberia will play the Super Eagles of Nigeria in an international friendly on today September 11, 2018 at the Samuel Kayon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville. The match according to the Liberian Youth and Sports Ministry is intended to honor President George Manneh Weah for his support to football in Liberia and Africa. The Super Eagles are determined to secure a win against the Lone Star following their 3-0 victory over Seychelles in the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers match on Saturday in Victoria. According to the FrontPage Africa newspaper, the former African champions landed in Lagos on September 9, 2018 and are expected in Liberia today at 8 am to honor the invitation from the Liberian FA, that’s according to the spokesman for the Nigerian Super Eagles Toyin Jbitoye.

MD Twehway envisages vibrant post sector

National Port Authority Managing Director Bill Twehway says he envisages a port where importers and citizens of neighboring countries will have quality services through an inter trade facilitation to foster growth and development. According to a press release, Mr. Twehway made the disclosure when he paid an assessment visit at the port of Buchanan over the weekend. It says Mr. Twehway has assured government’s commitment to developing a more vibrant port sector that will enhance trade and economic prosperity in Liberia. Mr. Twehway says President George Manneh Weah is passionate about developing all sectors of Liberia including the country’s seaports. The newly appointed NPA boss makes particular reference to the Port of Buchanan, reads the New Dawn newspaper.

YMCA Computer Center Graduates Over 400…Wants Female Advance In Information Technology

The Heritage newspaper is reporting that over 400 young men and women recently graduated from the Liberia YMCA Computer Training Center in Monrovia, with a call from several speakers to female trainees to take advantage of the advance program in Information Technology. To boost the call for young females to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the YMCA and advance themselves in the area of Information Technology (IT), The YMCA announced a 20% reduction for female trainees in the intermediate at its IT Center in Monrovia. This was disclosed by Mr. Timotheus Kamaboakai during circle 27 graduation of the Computer Training Program recently in Monrovia. Speaking during the graduation program of over 400 trainees at the YMCA National Headquarters, Mr. E. Timotheus Kamaboakai, said because of the low level of enrollment by females in the Advance Level, the YMCA is offering a 20% discount to all female trainees in the intermediate level. Additionally, Mr. Kamaboakai has called for more females training assistant in the IT program at the YMCA. “The gesture by YMCA will afford young females the opportunity to advance themselves at the highest level.” Mr. Kamaboakai said.

 

USAID Maternal and Child Survival program Holds Learning and Dissemination Event

According to theIn Profile Daily an official Learning and Dissemination event of the human for Health Project takes place on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Millennium Guest House, Tubman Boulevard, Congo Town, and Monrovia. The US.  Agency for International Development (USAID) ­­, through its implementing partner, Maternal and Child Survival Program MCSP, Human Resources for Health (HRH) project will conduct the program in collaboration with the Ministry of health, persevere Institution and health partner. The daylong celebration is being held under the theme Celebrating and promoting Sustainable pre service Education for Quality Human Resources for Healthy MCSPHRH Empowering Midwives and Medical Laboratory Technician. Direct beneficiaries of the MCSP HRH Project are Registered Midwifery (RM) and or Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) program.

“Liberia Will Rise Again”…Says Bishop Suku

According to The Inquirer newspaper the Bishop and General Overseer of the Freedom Christian Fellowship Ministry International, Dr. Pah K. Suku has assured Liberians that Liberia will rise again, thus frowning on those who think evil about the country. Speaking to his congregation of the Christian Fellowship Ministry International-FCFM Bishop Suku said, sugar coated gospels are compromising the truth from the word of God, warning that the gospel of Jesus Christ should not be compromised. The program which took place at the church’s edifice in Du-port Road, Paynesville outside Monrovia, brought together a host of guests and church members who were seen in appreciation of the conduct of the way the Bishop delivered his message.
