IAA, Partners Train Auditors
The Internal Audit Agency with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has begun two-week training for 25 Senior Internal Auditors. The training is intended to prepare Internal Auditors for certified Exams/programs that will help them get to the next level in their careers. The 25 senior internal auditors are expected to sit the (Certified Internal Auditor) CIA Part One Exam – Internal Audit Basics. Internationally recognized, the CIA training will develop the knowledge, acumen, and leadership ability of the staff members and demonstrate IAA’s strong commitment to professionalism in the practice of internal auditing in Government. Speaking at the training, UNDP Deputy Country Director for Programme Cleophas Torori stressed that the role of Internal Auditors is critical to capacity development and ensuring integrity, transparency and accountability in Government, reports the New Dawn newspaper.

Global Forum Head Visit Liberia
Ms. Monica Bhatia, Head of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes is visiting Liberia as guest of the Liberia Revenue Authority. (LRA). While in Liberia Ms. Monica Bhatia is expected to meet with the Vice President, Joseph N. Boakai, Coordinator of the Cabinet, Minister Fredrick Cherue, President of the Liberia Bankers Association, Hon. John Davis and other key stakeholders. Liberia’s Second Best Secondary Student Receives Accolade
According to INSIGHT newspaper, Lorpu A. Flomo, 2016/2017 graduate of the William Booth High School has been honored for her excellent performance in the 2016/2017 Liberia Senior High School (LSHSCE) administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). Student Flomo was rated as the best student in the Salvation Army Liberia & Sierra Leone Command School System and the second best in the Republic of Liberia for the 2016/2017 School Year. The Salvation Army Liberia & Sierra Leone Command on Monday, September 18, 2017 honored Student Lorpu A. Flomo, along with all Valeditorians and Salutatorians of The Salvation Army William Booth and Len Millar High Schools. Students Flomo obtained the second highest T-Score amongst 31,212 candidates who sat this year’s National Examinations.
World Lottery Official Concludes Summit In Liberia
An official of the World Lottery Association (WLA) on September 18, 2017 held daylong roundtable discussion with an anti-graft institution and stakeholders in the gaming and betting sector, including the financial Intelligence Unit, National Lottery Authority (NLA), the Liberia Football Association, the Ministry of Youth, and Sports betting companies in the country respectively. Mr. Thierry Pujol, who is outgoing Chairperson of WLA on Security and Integrity, was in the country as part of his West African nation tours, following similar visits to Sierra Leone, Ghana, Nigeria and Ivory Coast, reports In Profile Daily.

WaterAid Hosts WASH Sector Review In Sierra Leone
The In Profile Daily reads that a three-day meeting on Water Sanitation and Hygiene, WASH advocacy, service delivery and governance activities in Sierra Leone and Liberia, and began September in Bo, Sierra Leone. Hosted by WaterAid Liberia and Sierra Leone, the mid-year review gathering in intended for representatives from partnering organizations to review and reflect on their past and ongoing performances and plans. According to the daily, the meeting focuses on activities carried from April to September; highlighting achievements, challenges, lessons learned and what can be done to overcome the challenges including budget constraints when implementing planned activities.
LNP Nods At Peaceful Conduct In Electoral Process Thus Far
The Liberia National Police (LNP) has given thumbs up to the peaceful manner in which political parties and candidates are conducting themselves in the campaign process. Speaking on the UNMIL Radio « Coffee Break » on Monday, Police spokesman Sam Collins noted that the electoral processes, including the launching of campaigns across the country, are « going on very well, » adding that there has been no report of violence at any of the campaign rallies across the country. The Police spokesman pointed out that the police will continue its interaction with various segments of the Liberian society through the Carter Center to remain peaceful in these electioneering processes, adding that the police is now going from community to community along with the Carter Center giving the citizens updates on police operations as they relate to the upcoming elections, reads the FOCUS newspaper.
AfDB, Brazil To Train African Youth In Cassava Processing
The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Brazil-Africa Institute (BAI) have launched the Youth Technical Training Program (YTTP) − an initiative that aims to train young African professionals in research and technology transfer, contributing to local capacity development. The Daily Observer says the YTTP initiative is sponsored under the South–South Cooperation Trust Fund (SSCTF) and will consists of an array of professional development schemes to meet diverse needs of African countries by utilizing Brazil’s technology, skills and knowledge. Focus areas include agriculture and rural development, health, education, information and communication, infrastructure, and the creative industry. As part of this initiative, both parties on Thursday, September 14, announced the commencement of training of African youth for rewarding careers in cassava processing.

EPA Snatches ‘Best Regulatory Agency’ Award
According to the Daily Observer , Madam Anyaa Vohiri, CEO of Liberia’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was overwhelmed when organizers of ‘Liberian CEO, Business and Leadership Awards’ called her on stage twice to receive two separate awards — one for the EPA and another for herself The daily says the EPA was rewarded with Liberia’s ‘Best Regulatory Agency of the Year’ Award for her stance over the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) and Liberia Telecommunication Authority (LTA), while she was provided Liberia most prestigious corporate award. The award, according to the organizers, demonstrates Madam Vohiri’s efficient leadership ability at the Environmental Protection Agency.
