President Sirleaf Applauds Russia on Russia Day.

The President of the Republic of Liberia, Her Excellency Mrs. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, has sent a message of congratulations to the Government and People of the Russian Federation on the historic occasion commemorating Russia Day.

 

In her message to, H.E. Mr. Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, President Johnson Sirleaf extended warmest felicitations to the Government and People of the Russian Federal on behalf of the Government and People of the Liberia and in her own name.

 

The Liberian leader expressed confidence that the cordial ties of friendship and cooperation subsisting between Liberia and Russia will be further renewed and strengthened as both countries explore opportunities mutually rewarding.

 

President Johnson Sirleaf further recalled that it was with happiness Liberia received in Monrovia, March 2015, H.E. Dmitry Suslov, Russian Ambassador accredited to Liberia during the period when Liberia was still plagued by the Ebola virus disease, she noted a demonstration of strong ties between the two sisterly countries.

 

The Liberia President then applauded the Government and People of Russia for the immense contribution to the fight against the Ebola virus epidemic. "As a result of your support and that of other contributors from the international community, on May 9, 2015, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared Liberia free from Ebola", the Liberia leader noted with deep appreciation.
