President Sirleaf Expresses Optimism Over Liberia-Turkey Relations

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has reiterated that Liberia-Turkey relations have taken a fresh and encouraging direction with the bilateral cooperation between both countries nearing an unprecedented height.

 

The Liberian President made the assertion as contained in her Monday, October 29, 2013 congratulatory message to the Government and People of the Republic of Turkey on the official observance of Turkey’s National Day on Tuesday October 29th.

 

While congratulating Turkey on its National Day,     President Sirleaf stated that Liberia has continued to receive Turkey’s economic and technical support over the years.

 

In her message to Turkish President, His Excellency Abdullah Gui, President Sirleaf on behalf of Liberia, conveyed warmest felicitations and best wishes to the Government and People of Turkey as that Eastern European Nation commemorates its national occasion.

 

“We note with appreciation that Turkish police contingent is serving in UNMIL in fulfillment of the United Nations’ mandate for the promotion of international peace and security. We wish to also acknowledge Turkey’s participation in the high level panel meeting convened in Monrovia this year”, President Sirleaf remarked.

 

President Sirleaf then wished that as the People of Turkey commemorate ninety (90) years of national existence as a sovereign and independent nation, the cordial friendship enjoyed by the two countries and Peoples will further be enriched and enhanced as the two Governments work together for the mutual benefit, and for peace, security and prosperity.
