President Sirleaf Consoles Nigeria And Ghana.
Expressing shock over two plane crashes in the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Republic of Ghana, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent two separate condolence messages to the Governments and Peoples of the two nations currently undergoing grief and agony.
A Foreign Ministry release quotes the President as saying that she, on behalf of the Government and the People of Liberia and in her own name, extends to His Excellency, Mr. Goodluck Jonathan, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and through him to the brotherly People of Nigeria and particularly the bereaved families, profound sympathy and deepest condolences for the irreparable loss sustained.
President Sirleaf hopes that the Almighty God will receive the souls of the departed ones into His bosom and grant solace to their families and loved ones during this mournful period.
To His Excellency, Mr. John Evans Atta Mills, President of the Republic of Ghana, the Liberian Leader expressed profound sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the Government and People of Ghana, especially the bereaved families. She added that the Government and People of Liberia are saddened by this tragedy.
Both tragedies took place over the weekend when Flight 992 of Dana Airline crashed into some buildings in the Nigerian commercial city of Lagos, killing all 153 persons on board and an undetermined number of others on the ground while Allied Air, a cargo plane, hit a passenger bus killing, 10 passengers and injuring many others in a tragic crash in Accra, Ghana.
