President Weah Congratulates European Commission President -Elect, Mrs. Ursula Von Der LEYER- Promises to Deepen Cooperation with the EU.

President George Manneh Weah has sent a warm congratulatory message to the President-Elect of the European Commission, Mrs. Ursula Von Der LEYER.

“Please accept warm congratulations on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia and on my own behalf, following your victory as the first female to be elected to the highest office of the European Commission.’ The Liberian leader said.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, President Weah emphasized that it is very certain that Mrs. Von Der LEYER received such great mandate from the people of the European Union at a very critical period of its history, when the EU looked upon for leadership in upholding multilateralism and respect for internationally agreed protocols, conventions and treaties.

He stressed that the evident victory of Madam Von Der LEYER is highly likely to inspire a resilient, prosperous and unified Europe.

The Liberian leader also noted with elation that the bilateral ties subsisting between the EU and Liberia continue to be marked by a strong bond of friendship and corporation.

President Weah said he is convinced that with the ascendency of Madam Von Der LEYER to this high office, relations between Liberia and the EU will gain a new elevated thrust, thereby creating the platform for both sides to further deepen and enhance corporation.

“ As I look forward to working with you madam President-elect, please accept, once again, my personal best wishes for your continued excellent health and success, for the new demanding task, and for the people of the European Union, renewed solidarity and prosperity.
