President Sirleaf Sends Condolence To Kenya
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a message of condolences to the Government and People of Kenya, through their President, for the brutal attack on the Westgate Mall in Nairobi.
On behalf of Liberia, President Sirleaf extended heartfelt condolences to the Kenyan President His Excellency Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta; personally and through him, to the Government and People of Kenya, especially the bereaved families, for the brutal attack on the Westgate Mall in Nairobi on Saturday September 21, 2013 which resulted in the loss of lives of sixty-one civilians and six members of the security forces with one hundred seventy-five injured persons.
President Sirleaf on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia and in her own name, extended to President Kenyatta and the Government and People of Kenya her deepest condolences and sympathy for the loss of lives.
“We note the painstaking efforts of the Kenyan Government Security Forces in ending the siege, your firm and steady Leadership and the resolute and courageous action of your security forces demonstrated throughout, helped to end the siege”, President Sirleaf remarked in her . The Liberian leader said by not giving in or negotiating with the perpetrators, the Kenyan President have shown that no one should be allowed to threaten the freedoms enjoyed in an open society and get away with impunity.
She further expressed the hope that God Almighty will grant President Kenyatta and the People of Kenya strength and fortitude to as they observe this period of mourning
